- Economic regions
- Established in accordance with the 1993 Constitution of the Russian Federation, the country’s 12 Economic Regions are as follows: Central; Central Black Earth; East Siberian; Far Eastern; Northern; North Caucasus; Northwestern; Volga; Urals; Volga-Vyatka; West Siberian; and Kaliningrad, the only region to include only a single oblast. Ostensibly, the regions were formed on the basis of common historical, economic, ecological, geological, and social characteristics; however, in Asiatic Russia, there are vast internal differences within the three easternmost regions.See also Federal districts.
